Interview with Bracken of How I Became a Teenage Survivalist

TELL US A LITTLE BIT ABOUT YOURSELF.
My name is Bracken and I'm the second of three brothers. I live on a farm in the Midwest with my parents, grandparents, and brothers.
WHAT WAS YOUR BIGGEST FEAR BEFORE PF DAY?
I can't think of anything important. The most pressing concern, if I remember correctly, was if I could find someone to go to the prom with me or maybe if we would win the football game that Friday. Whatever it was, it seems so inconsequential now.
WHAT WAS YOUR BIGGEST FEAR AFTER PF DAY?
Immediately after it happened, we were all worried about a grain elevator explosion since there were several loud pops and explosions followed by tons of sirens. After we found out what had really happened, we weren't concerned until the days stretched into weeks and then into months without power. Then we had to put our heads together and figure out what we needed to do to survive.
WHAT DO YOU SEE AS YOUR GREATEST CHALLENGE IN LIFE NOW?
Hmmm, that's hard. There are so many challenges now - food, water, marauders. But nothing we can't solve together.
WHAT OR WHO MEANS THE MOST TO YOU IN YOUR LIFE? WHAT WOULD YOU DO TO KEEP HIM/HER/IT IN YOUR LIFE?
My family and Skylar. No question. There isn't anything I wouldn't do to keep them.
WHAT HAVE YOU LEARNED FROM PF DAY?
I've learned that your family and your community are your greatest sources of strength in a survival situation. I don't know what we would've done without our neighbors and friends and I don't even want to consider what life would've been like without my family. I also learned that things don't make you happy; people do.
